So... I was curous, and happened to be at my account on fanfiction.net and looking at the stats for the stories, and I got curious to see which of the stories were the most popular over the year.

Of the Atlantis stories, it's clearly Deliverance consistantly in double figure visitor numbers (highest 67 and lowest 15). Closely followed by Apostasy, and Crossing Lines. What do these all have in common? Interspecies relationships. LOL Perhaps that's it.

Of the Mummy Stories, it's between Forbidden, and Power Is. I put the popularity of Forbidden down to its title. It speaks of wicked things. LOL I'm still very pleased that my very first fan fic is drawing double figure visitor figures. Also to see recently there's been a resurgence in the interest of Mummy stories. This makes me happy.

Okay, Mr Wright, Mr Malozzi and all other 'hangers on' I'm getting pretty pissed at being blamed for Universe tanking. It's tanking because it's bollocks, end of story.

I Love dark Sci-Fi, and I loved SGA, (in fact some of my favourite episodes of SGA are the darkest ones among the series), but that's not why I don't like Universe. Universe simply didn't do it for me, not because I loved SGA, but because Universe doesn't work.

The writing is weak, where is should be strong, but we've seen that before in episodes of SGA where the writers simply didn't appear to have the courage to put their money where their mouth is, and stand up for their own concepts of the darkness in the Pegasus Galaxy. They were /told/ by the networks, and TPTB to 'humanise' the Wraith, (and particularly Michael), and this frankly killed what could have kept SGA going with or without the introduction of Universe. They caved too easily, and it hurt them, because having done as they were told they got 'fed up' with writing for Michael, with writing for the Wraith, went off half cocked and as a result Season 5 sucked. No wonder it was cancelled, but was it down to Universe? No. Was it down to poor writing, as the troubles that Universe is now having - yes.

Those involved need to Grow up, man up and take responsibility for their own mistakes, and do something about it - something that's not whining!

cedar_grove: (not stupid)
The stupidest things depress me... things that have no reason to, and it's all irrational I'm sure.

This ended up on my friends page earlier this evening.

This entry has a link to the LJ of one of the authors and in the comments to the entry she answered a question regarding the SGA movie, referring to this series of books as being the only new "canon" of which she knows, but then goes on to say:

"Of course, if they come back and make a movie later that josses everything, that happens! We'll be in good company with Diane Duane, Jean Lorrah, A C Crispin, and many other fine writers who've had that happen with Star Trek."

This, and a couple of other things set me off thinking about the debate that seems to go back and forth between people as to whether book series, such as these from Fandemonium for Stargate, and the Pocket Book once for DS9 and Enterprise et al should be considered to be canon, or just some form of semi-official/licensed fanfic.

Speaking of Pocket Books - For Goodness sake. 2011?!!!

So yeah... don't quite know how to feel right now - though I feel those bunnies stirring and munching on 'power up' carrots.

Not a happy little bunny right now, as is evidenced by the icon <==

I spent all evening coding the latest installment (the last installment actually), of No Way Back... and as I always do before posting that it's live, I went to check it. I didn't do anything I don't always do... uploaded it in exactly the same way, just... nothing works.

The ENTIRE WEBSITE is down.. 404s all round. So I call my webhost, speak to someone that is /less/ than helpful, who obviously fails to resolve the problem, and all she can do is issue a support ticket, for some poor engineer to then go fix the problem.

So, if you're trying to get to my site right now, you can't... but they're working on it, though they can give me no idea how long it will take.

*sighs*
