Okay, Mr Wright, Mr Malozzi and all other 'hangers on' I'm getting pretty pissed at being blamed for Universe tanking. It's tanking because it's bollocks, end of story.
I Love dark Sci-Fi, and I loved SGA, (in fact some of my favourite episodes of SGA are the darkest ones among the series), but that's not why I don't like Universe. Universe simply didn't do it for me, not because I loved SGA, but because Universe doesn't work.
The writing is weak, where is should be strong, but we've seen that before in episodes of SGA where the writers simply didn't appear to have the courage to put their money where their mouth is, and stand up for their own concepts of the darkness in the Pegasus Galaxy. They were /told/ by the networks, and TPTB to 'humanise' the Wraith, (and particularly Michael), and this frankly killed what could have kept SGA going with or without the introduction of Universe. They caved too easily, and it hurt them, because having done as they were told they got 'fed up' with writing for Michael, with writing for the Wraith, went off half cocked and as a result Season 5 sucked. No wonder it was cancelled, but was it down to Universe? No. Was it down to poor writing, as the troubles that Universe is now having - yes.
Those involved need to Grow up, man up and take responsibility for their own mistakes, and do something about it - something that's not whining!

Date: 2010-11-13 04:25 pm (UTC)Hi, Cedar! It's my first return to LJ after a long while (been away, will post, promise) and what do I find? Another angry member of the masses. Mwahahahaha.
Anyway... how are you? (Need to read pages and pages of posts, I know. :) )
And btw, I can't bear watching SGU. I tried; really tried... Every time an episode ends, I go--what the *blank* was this? I told you that your 'episodes' are major, major superior to their writing.

Thank you for the vote of confidence, my friend. As things go I'm about half way to finishing act two of the next of those episodes... the plot continues to thicken, and the poor writer continues to need a map to remember her way around the plot. LOL
