It's a decision that's been hard even finding a place to start... and now I'm supposed to make it in three days... *sighs* The form is here for us to state our preference of which year group we want to teach next year.

We're on a managed budget, because we have falling rolls and our bank balance is going to be in deficit... looking at the projections the school, after the year 2004/5 will lose either one or two teachers in 2005/6 and then one teacher each year after that...

So see... do I:
a) Quit and sign with a supply agency, which will give me much more flexibility travel wise in case of interview, but will not have security of a regular income, which - with bills to pay is a problem. or
b) Stay in the school for another year, while still looking for a new job and being ready to quit when I find one, which will give me a regular income, allow me to pay for things like, trips to see people, and my bills and save up some... and then after that year, go to supply.
c) Combine the two options... by keeping in mind to quit and go and do supply at any stage in the year... maybe the spring term, when all the job stuff gets done abroad... so that I've got the flexibility when I need it.

Had it been possible to get the visa thing sorted so that we could be there and looking... I mean I could in theory support myself for two or three months, which would have given me time to find a job... but the /stupid/ damned immigration laws... *sighs*

I'm /so/ broken up about all this... I'm not where I want to be right now.

I wish that I could help you

But telling you what to do isn't help, it's telling you what I and the rest of us /want/ which is impossible, so ... *sigh*

What do we want? We want you here as often as possible. And as soon as possible. We want you to have the money to be comfortable in whatever you decide but we want you to have the flexible hours. Does that mean working with the substitute place /and/ having a part time job somewhere? Again, I don't want to sit here and tell you what you what's right and wrong for you. Only you can make that choice.

But we're here to listen to all the options. If that's what you need.

I wish we could give you the answers - I don't even know myself where I'd go at that point ...

But when you need an ear to bounce stuff off of ...
