Title: Enmity
Rating: R (mature readers)
Spoilers:Spoilers for S1-4, (specifically Michael (but who hasn't seen that by now?) and some episodes from the beginning of the official season 5
Summary: As the team continues to battle a powerful Wraith faction, Teyla wakes in the infirmary on Atlantis. She has no memory of what Michael has done to her; knows only one thing... he has her son. Upset by repeated attempts at debriefing, because she cannot - or will not, as certain expedition members insist - tell them what happened, what will she do when Woolsey pushes her too hard... too far?
Disclaimer:MGM own Stargate: Atlantis. This story is for entertainment purposes only and no revenue is being made from copyright material. No infrigement intended.
Act 1 now available.
Author's Note: Only thing I really want to note here, for now at least, is that I thought long and hard about it, and finally made the decision to change the name of Teyla's son. This was done in order to create a little distance from the TV Season 5. Oh, and I should probably also give warning of a character death in this story.
Previous Episodes:
Harm's Way (1) and Chain of Command (2) can be accessed here.

Introduction
The introduction was very long, but very good. Sometimes I try to reread some pieces from Harm’s Way, because it contains so much information we’re going to need again later on (guess which parts those are?), but it’s very good that they get repeated before the actual story begins, as to make sure we won’t forget. (I’m really looking forward to learning what that was about, *them* first meeting each other. *g*)
Act 1
Teyla
Desperately she reached out. Her hand connected with the smooth cool of metal. She snatched at it, and heaved with all her strength.
That’s it, girl, kick their asses for touching you in that way! Michael was so gentle, and then these monkeys come along…
*Reads on*
Teyla seems to have problems with people touching her, all of a sudden. Is that a lingering feeling from what Kanaan, her betrayer of a ‘friend,’ did? The part where he shot her, and she grabbed Michael, the only one she could trust, instead? Or is it Michael, and Michael alone, that can touch her now, because of all those confusing feelings that were associated with it? And the mental link? *g*
*Reads on*
Ronon agreed with her on the topic of Michael, so he’s the one that can also touch her, from time to time? Hmm…
*Reads on*
She seems fine when she initiates the contact, but other than that… *Flinch*
It’s like she’s developing Michael’s mind set concerning touching… Almost as it’s the most precious thing in the world. Not good.
She made a grab for the trolley beside her and all but threw it in the direction of the black shapes moving toward her.
Oh man, if Michael ever gets to know this… He’ll laugh! Although, maybe not, since she’s doing it out of utter panic… And that’s because of him…
"…Michael…" she whispered.
"I can see that you obviously remember him." Woolsey said, not without a little harshness in his tone.
I know it’s not funny, but: lol!
"And in respect of the psychological issues she faces, Teyla's next step is to be reintegrated into the community in as normal a manner as possible."
Well, doesn’t that sound familiar?
"Nethaiye, how can we hope for peace now, when you are used as nothing but an instrument of war?"
Yes, Teyla, that’s the *correct* thing to think. Now watch it turn around again…
The terrible trembling in her limbs began again and the nausea strengthened with the realisation that it had not simply been an accusation levelled at him – at all of them – out of the pain of her condition, but that she believed what she had been about to say and had always done so.
See? That’s possibly a step more towards him, her bringing those things up right now, when she *should* be thinking that a monster has her son, and that he chose to live his life the way he wanted to, as a murderer, and that Atlantis couldn’t be held responsible for his current actions any more.
he was all she could think, all she could feel.
On her outgoing breath, she sobbed, "Michael!
Muuuuuuurderer… ;) Has your kid and dumped you in corpse-land… Er, with Kanaan, that is.
"I have to find him. He needs me."
Which ‘babe’ is she speaking of? *g*

Re: Enmity - Act 1: review part 1
Date: 2008-10-02 11:28 pm (UTC)You ask some interesting questions regarding Teyla. Of course I can't answer them without giving away /way/ too much. LOL.
I think, were Michael every to discover how the 'Lantean's have treated his beloved Teyla, he'd be more than ready to... um... cause grevious harm to them all... especially Woolsey.
Teyla does have some very nice first words though, yes, I will agree with you there... Poor deary, she's terribly confused.
I can see you are mourning Kanaan deeply.

Yes, I believe so, too... Teyla was supposed to be one of *them*, the one that did get accepted with the humans, the one they were frantically searching for, the one they wouldn't rest before getting her... And lookie now? Woolsey'd love to toss her in the brig together with Lorne. But as the company would be cute, that's not that bad, yet... Lol.
*Waits patiently for the /next/ dreams or two, three* She can get even more confused, then.
Yes, I am. Very deeply. In fact, it's so deep that it's sunk into my toenail.
*gets the nail clipper*
*clip*
There. Now, what were we talking about, again?

Enmity - Act 1: review part 2
Date: 2008-10-02 09:55 pm (UTC)Michael suffers losses ‘every day’ at the hands of the Wraith too, probably, right? Or even more as the Athosians… So if she switches from her people to the hybrids… She can still ‘move on,’ like she’s used to doing all along… ^^
"Must you take everything from me that makes me who and what I am, the way you did to—?"
Yes…? :P Someone is quite popular over there!
"Or is that just a convenient excuse to keep me at your side…? Perfectly happy to go along with my wishes so long as they fit in with your agenda!"
Watch out there, Teyla. You almost are calling out to him, again.
So, does Michael feel it every time she thinks of him? *g* He’s gonna give her extra points for this!
"I understand the plan, John Sheppard," she snapped at him,
That’s the second (?) time she uses his full name. Only his rank is missing, and then it’s like Michael’s speaking through her, lol.
…physically she was in a surprisingly good condition.
&
"We had a little bit of a run in with some Wraith," Sheppard answered. "Nothing we couldn't handle."
Nothing *Teyla* couldn’t handle. Did she get an update from Michael?
Teyla sighed, "Perhaps you could demonstrate a little trust, John."
Michael gave her more trust than her friends did… Is that what’s part of the upcoming problem(s)? Oh boy.
Michael
"I can remember nothing of what happened, of where I was… only feelings..."
Is Teyla not remembering because she’s blocked it out herself, or because Michael did it/is doing it, for her?
Michael/Teyla
"Let me see him," she pleaded.
"It is better that you do not."
Does he look completely human? Lol. It would scare her away if she suddenly saw Michael Jr.! :D
"Michael," she tried to rise, but was flooded by a wave of tiredness… weakness. "Michael, please…!"
Did she try to rise again anyway, and fall on the ground, or what? *Shakes head* Silly girl.
Broken, she gave voice to the sob, born of all the loss and emptiness. The sob became a cry, and as the cry faded it resolved into a desperate plea.
"Michael!"
Teyla has such a lovely first word on her lips after she wakes up… “Michael!” :P
(permanent gutter, you know…)
About the dream: it’s almost as if she’s walking straight to Michael, in her dreams. The hallway is all the distance in the galaxy she needs to cross, ‘the need in her belly’ could be her mentally passing the room where her baby is in, and at the end you can find Michael. *g*
Oh, and the voices of course could be his open-ish link with the hybrids. Or maybe she’s just going crazy… ^^
El Bambino
Nethaiye…
Is that’s what you named him, then? It would be funny to see that it’s actually Michael’s Wraith name. You know, the Lanteans would never know unless e.g. Todd told them… *g*
"…enduring… goodness only knows what, at Michael's hands."
Eek! He’s giving him his bottle! Lol.
Kanaan
McKay was crouching beside another immobile figure. This one lay face down on the other side of the room, near the windows. He noticed that one of them was broken… shattered in a strangely explosive pattern.
Did Michael shoot him through the window, or what? Strange… We’ve only really seen Wraith stunners…
Anyway, toodles. And stay out. :P

Re: Enmity - Act 1: review part 2
Date: 2008-10-02 11:41 pm (UTC)In answer to your question it is possible that Michael feels here when she thinks of him sometimes... not necessarily every time though.
Yeah, Teyla was a little bit kick-ass in this episode, wasn't she? Did she get an upgrade? That's for me to know, and everyone else to wonder at. Who am I kidding? LOL
Michael
It will become evident what occured before the team from Atlantis found Teyla.
Michael/Teyla
The child looks... like a child.
She didn't even make it out of the bed, so no, she didn't fall on the floor. And yes, you are in the permanent gutter. LOL
Interesting interpretation of the dream. :) She /could/ just be going crazy, yes. Stark raving bonkers... barking... ehem!
Baby/Nethaiye
Yes, that is what he was named... it just 'came' to Teyla.
Kanaan
I will simply say that Kanaan's fate was far more insidious than Michael shooting him... and leave it at that.
Re: Enmity - Act 1: review part 2
Date: 2008-10-03 11:39 am (UTC)Guess she found her own fitness program, though. Lol.
You're kidding yourself that we won't have to wonder much about it, because it is evident, or what? *g*
Michael/Teyla
Mr and Mrs Michael 'bonkers' Kenmore, now that would be a nice one... :P
Okay, nothing funny about the situation, so we can't laugh with it, honestly. Bad Spikey. :o
Baby
So, was it Michael's preference? ^^ Outside, or inside, influences... After all, someone's going to be playing daddy, and it ain't... Er, who was that again?
Er...
Gawd knows what was tested on him in the meanwhile... *g*

Enmity - Act 1: review part 3
Date: 2008-10-02 09:56 pm (UTC)Ronon = luff.
Nothing much more to say. He’s wiser than people give him credit for.
Woolsey
"You were watching?"
"Every word, sir." Hollick confirmed.
"And?"
"I wouldn't like to say at this point, sir," the major said, and then added, "but she did a pretty good job on my men… completely lost it, you might say."
Wow, what an ass! I mean, she’s woken up, feels that her ‘precious’ Kanaan is dead, her baby is not at her side, like he would be, in Atlantis, and doesn’t remember a thing, even hardly registers where she is… She obviously didn’t like touches, so what else was she supposed to do? Poor girl, and then a butt such as Woolsey there to make it even sound worse, to have her declared ‘insane’ on the spot… You know I’ve already thought how she would get back into Michael’s hands, but thanks to this, and further ‘negative encounters,’ and her sudden ‘I hate what you did to Michael, against my advice,’ will certainly make her want to go to Michael again? Although I’m surprised that, at the same time as she says ‘you should have listened to me about him,’ she doesn’t go all ‘but what he’s doing now is sooo wrong as well.’ But that might be one of the things that’ll decide her future…
"But I'm not ready to believe everything she's said either. Whatever is going on down there may just be the start of a whole new set of problems for us."
*Evil grin* Whump! ^^
Todd/Vega
"but this is my ship and I have allied with the Elder Queen. We have a common cause."
"Like what?"
"Ah," he rumbled, "if the Queen wishes you to know that… she will tell you."
*Hypnotizes the Queen*
What goal do you have at the moment?
Or maybe I had better run, with her in a room together with me… :o
He sat down beside her on the bench and reached out to draw her back into a more upright, more comfortable position.
Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. Todd and Vega are just so cute together! *g*
I started the Todd/Teyla Ship Thread on GW, but I should have started the General Todd Shipping Thread instead! :P
General
Have we seen the last of the Haradians? And Ynek? Yay! Halling is still fine!
Oh, the girl from Ynek’s people? Was she supposed to go serve Todd’s Ancient Queen? She did enjoy beautiful human females…
Evan: poor him. Their trying to slow it down is only making it worse. For a moment there, I thought she would mentally talk to him, accidentally.
"It's in my head!" Lorne screamed, "Make it stop!"
‘It’ is Michael, or the mind bond?
…to her surprise, the Athosian reached the Major's side without him making even a single move.
Does he recognize her own ‘hybrid’ DNA, meaning the DNA she has from birth? Or that she is/was in contact with Michael? Or like I asked before, is she ‘updated,’ or maybe she’s growing in her powers…
How strange that he says, even though he’s in agony, that *she* has to be taken care of, first. Hybrid reaction? The Queen before me?
Slowly Lorne began to lower the knife away and moved a step closer to Teyla, allowing her to take the scalpel from his hand.
Awe! He listens so well! Can she take him along with her, when she leaves for Michael’s, so that she has a babysitter with dimples? *g*
There. That’s about it for now. I’m sure other mails will follow.

Date: 2008-10-02 11:43 pm (UTC)Woolsey is not being very nice right now... no.
LOL at the thought of Todd and Vega together... don't think it's going to happen somehow, but then I (and Todd) know something that you don't know.
As for your general questions, you've very close to the mark on some of them. Very good. :)
Re: Enmity - Act 1: review part 3

*Pulls him closer and starts squishing*
Meh, he's not talking... ^^
Weeew! Gots to keep some things in mind, then.
I'd better go make some posts, now... :P

Date: 2008-10-05 06:41 am (UTC)Anyway, wow! I've read the previous acts a while ago and enjoyed it immensily. I wish, truly wish, that the SGA people would've taken, if not this path of the plot, the path of deeper understanding of the characters, other than just 'michael bad', etc. But, we've got wonderful fic like yours to fill in the big gaps left by those writers. :)
I truly enjoyed this. It was monumental work, I know. I admire you for it. I have neither the stamina or the talent to create something so complete.
I hope to read some more. Now that we are LJ friends, I'll have the updates when they happen.
Great work! Very, very well done.

Date: 2008-10-05 01:31 pm (UTC)Yes, *sighs* I wish the writers would have gone a little deeper and actually /listened/ to their characters... made them a little bit deeper than they are. Mind you, if they had done that, what would there be left for us fic writers to do?

Date: 2008-10-05 07:05 am (UTC)Particularly the references to "Michael" in the Teyla wakeup scene--the Atlanteans followed almost exactly the same "script" they did with Michael! And the "visit" at the end...we have Teyla literally sickened at what was done to him.
The twisted bond these two have is growing stronger--and I'm looking forward to future chapters!

Date: 2008-10-05 01:35 pm (UTC)They do have a rather twisted bond, don't they? Look forward to more visitations as things progress. :)
