Harm's Way - Story 1 of 20
Word count to date: 4,350
Chapter: 1
Sequel to: Follows on from the events at the end of SGA Season 4's The Last Man
With the off-world teams trapped, Teyla still in Michael's hands and the IOA breathing down Carter's neck, it becomes and all our race against time to effect a speedy rescue... but when someone asks, 'how much worse can it get?' you just know that little is going to go according to plan.
See... what I worry is that the writers have written themselves into a moral corner... bitten off way more than they can chew... and while I'm sure that Season 5 will be interesting enough, I worry for certain elements and storylines and relationships. So there's that 'infinite wisdom' again that dragged me kicking and screaming into what is a new fandom for me. 20 story ideas later, I have plans for a virtual season 5.
Spoilers are kind of obvious, and there really was only one way to go after The Last Man at least in the beginning... The team is still trapped after Michael's 'failsafe' blows up the building around their ears. At least someone's got to manage to get back to Atlantis to summon help... those things are pretty much a given. Then you think about what's left to resolve and have to add in that Michael is going to be around somewhere. After that you can speculate that, with what Sheppard and co told Wraith-Todd during The Kindred the Wraith are likely to put in an appearence, probably to try and kick Michael's ass - so it looks like everyone ends up in harm's way and you're left wondering who's going to be the 'last man' standing? (Yes that was intentional.) So those things formed my premise for Harm's Way and I threw in a few... spanner-like twists as I went along.
The remaining 19 stories are all titled and 'premised' if not planned in detail. Again I'm doing little here but giving titles. They are:
Chain of Command
In Truth, Freedom
Mantle
Enmity
Letting Go
Beyond the Third
Deliverance
No Way Back
Apostasy
Crossing Lines
Summer
Convocation
Rude Awakening
Executive Orders
Strangers I
Strangers II
Line of Fire
Extinguished
Genocide
I'll admit, it's an arc-heavy set of stories... but when things were coming together, I couldn't put the number of loose ends and other related ideas into fewer stories than I did, so... standalone went the way of a Wraith locked in a room with Ronon and his trusty gun. Better get cracking - July is not so far away.
