If...With No Choice - third story in the If... series.

Donovan and the team must once and for all face the ghosts of their past and lay them to rest in order to find peace for themselves... and to protect the ones they love.

So, um... It wasn't at all intentional, but these stories ended up being a vehicle for Cody-torture... as least from the second story onward. Cody was a much neglected character in the TV show - Tech-op with a heart of gold and bottomless stomach, leastways he always seemed to be putting something into his mouth. Beating up on him has gotten me into a lot of trouble and I apologise for it. I do. However, I also think that Cody is one of the strongest characters, at least in terms of the fan-fiction, that I write about the show. Those two things, (the Cody-torture and the strength of writing him), are in no way connected. Anyway, he's not alone. I think ...With No Choice. will be a bit of a tough ride for Alex too.

Everyone has a past, and some even a few skeletons in the closet. The If series of stories explore Frank Donovan's personal skeletons, and the skeletons of a few others in the team, and the way that, no matter how hard you try you can't run away from your past, because when you try to do that, it tends to hurt the people around you.

...With No Choice. also explores the team in terms of family, and the way they support each other through both the good, and the difficult times. It also blurs the lines between black and white, creating lots of interesting shades of grey.

It's a shame the show didn't last. It was a good show, with an interesting premise and a strong cast, but I guess there were just too many cop shows on at the time.
