A Big Headache and Some Achievements

Today I beat myself over the head repeatedly trying to understand the html that Mir's helped me with so far (a while ago - I was trying to refresh my memory). I've built websites before, but - you can slap me for this if you like - I used Netscape. It's not ideal, but at least, 95% of the time I could get it to do what I told it to do. But I wanted more 'freedom' so thought that learning html might be the way to go. I have webspace, and I have a domain registered, now all I need are the pages to go up there. Oh sure there's a temporary placeholder page there, but I want the site up and running. Impatient, me? LOL

On the way home from the USA I managed to write the brief synopsis for five more episodes of the series of stories I have planned bringing the total with a written synopsis to ten.








Harm's Way - Story 1 of 20
Word Count to date: 18,900

Sequel to: Follows on from the events at the end of SGA Season 4's The Last Man

I managed to make some changes to the tease and first act of the first story in the twenty I have planned, and make significant headway toward writing the second act. I think I only have two or three short sections left to write in that act. As an aside, I also switched around the order of a few episodes in the season, which necessitates slight changes in the way they'll be written too, but it's very in keeping with the spirit of the show.

A suggestion... Ok, not as much freedom as making the page yourself I know, but, you *might* find it easier to set up a content management system on your webspace if your host supports it, like wordpress or joomla or something. There's loads of site templates and suchlike out there that may fit the bill.

On the other hand, if you've any particular "Why the hell doesn't that work???" probs with HTML then feel free to chuck it over to me to have a look at. (May not be able to help, and you've prob already got help on hand anyway, but it can always be worth another set of eyes when you reach that stage!)

Once I get the main pages up, it's just a case of uploading the writing, and getting the write colours of background and text to fit the rest of the site. I have no idea if my host supports a content management system or not. *helpless grin*

As far as "Why the hell doesn't that work," I am a complete novice at html. :) Thanks for the offer. I'll keep it in mind.
