The Barefaced Cheek of Some People
Jun. 16th, 2003 10:40 am...astounds me...
So those of you that know the ongoing saga of selling this wretched house... Yesterday I got a call from the estate agents. They'd had a call from the prospective buyers of my house - yes that's right, the one that lost their sale and so my house sale fell through, then got another buyer who pulled out almost immediately. The prospective buyers who are /allegedly/ very interested in buying my house. We'll call them Mr and Mrs Cheeky.
So... Mr Cheeky had phoned our estate agent to say that they had received an offer on their house for £5000 less than their asking price, and would I please drop /my/ price by the corresponding amount. Of course, my answer to the estate agent was no. See... I'd already come down £4950 on my asking price to get the quick sale on the house (i.e. when I first accepted their offer)... so in effect they asking me to lose almost £10,000 on the value of the house.
The ironic thing is... I saw this happening. I told the estate agent that. I told the woman that they lost their buyer, and then suddenly, when I said I was putting the house on the market again, they found another buyer, who /strangely/ dropped out almost immediately... It was all very suspicious to me... and I thought then, the /next/ thing they'll do is ask me to drop the price for them even more than I have done, and lo and behold, that's exactly what happened...
*sighs*
If it wasn't such an important matter I could laugh. As I said, it's barefaced cheek, and I don't know how people /dare/ to try stuff like this.
