Okay so they only happen twice a year, but parents' evenings make for a really long day. I was at school for 11 hours today - and not stopping for all of that time. Oh I know there are folk out there that really believe teachers get it easy but frankly - and I don't care who this offends - they're talking out of their /arse!/
8am - arrive at school, set up the classroom for the morning, photocopy resources, print out plans for Senior Management Team.
8.30am - Morning briefing.
8.45am - children begin to arrive - talk to parents, rearrange meeting times, set class off to work on journalling.
9am - register class, continue journalling.
9.15am - morning greeting session with class.
9.30am - Literacy Lesson - story openings.
10.30am - dismiss children to break, complete photocopying of math resources. (TA? What TA?)
10.45am - Numeracy Lesson - Multiplication strategies.
11.45am - Guided Reading session, group 1.
12pm - Lunch, set up classroom for pm session.
1pm - Register class for pm session - RE Lesson - Initiations.
2pm - ICT/Web play. Class split in 2. half on computers, half outside suite working on autobiographical data... groups change over after half the lesson.
3pm - Story time and end of day.
3.15pm - dismiss children, tidy classroom, get ready for parent/teacher meetings.
3.30pm - First parent teacher meeting. Meet one family every ten minutes until 7pm.
7pm - drive home, then eat.
8pm - Marking, Science work on Microbes.
8.45pm - prepare science work for following day.
9.30pm - I think I'm done until tomorrow.... when I'll start all over again.
No... I'm not complaining - not really... just it tee's me off something terrible when I get told that teachers have it easy, only working from 9 until 3... don't I wish! (Don't most teachers wish).
I'm worrying about my baby... poor Flash is 'nos feel so good...'
I really hate when people say they're going to do something and then call me, and then never bother calling me - so I call them only to find they've gone home and no one else knows anything about it. In this instance it's not only annoying it's also inconvenient and worrying... and something I definitely need to get sorted out before Friday but doubt I will. *sighs* I don't quite know what I'm going to do
I need to write a whole bunch of letters, but right now I just can't be bothered!
