Exclusion, tears and headaches.

Today was probably 100% better than yesterday at work, but still not perfect. The child that wrecked the classroom yesterday was given a 2 day exclusion which ends on Friday - why couldn't it have been done til the end of the week? I have yet to see the photographs of the state of the classroom (I had taken the other children out to a spare classroom for the safety of the other children), but apparently it was 'impressive.' The rest of the class behaved reasonably well, worked hard actually including the two other 'challenged' children in the class, one of whom I awarded a merit certificate to. He was to have gotten it in public in assembly, but of course, after behaving well all day the class lost it and were banished from assembly. I feel sorry for the child I'd wanted to have the certificate - it would have been /very/ good for him to get that. *sighs*
There's a group of girls in the class that think they rule the roost. Typical pre-adolescent, pre-teen behaviour and attitude really, but it is very irritating to both me and the other children. They seem to see everyone as being below them in some way. Well today I had enough and gave one of these girls a dressing down that reduced her to tears. Not something I'd usually be happy about, but these girls really do need taking down a peg or two, as much for their own safety when they get to secondary school next year, as for the sanity of their classmates and teachers.
Had a terrible headache all day. Came home after doing my errands after school, ate my tea and took some Migralieve then slept for about 4 hours. I feel a little bit better now, just somewhat groggy. I'm thinking maybe a snack...
