One Small Step
Feb. 21st, 2011 06:14 pmFrom The Book of Awakening: Having the Life You Want by Being Present to the Life You Have.
Yet, if we can outlast the urge to judge everything we encounter, a miracle starts to surround us in which painting, music, poetry, running water, flowers, wind through trees, open vistas-all touch and draw out their counterpart that lives quietly within us.
Disconnected with nature, I feel this more keenly. I don't even know when my life became so busy that I lost that connection I used to have with things in nature around me... well... lost is too strong a word, I still have that connection, but rarely have the chance to enjoy it properly.
Except when I'm with Mirrani. Whether she knows it or not she empowers me to find and enjoy that connection again. With her I walk the beach on New Years Day, or in the woods, or in the mountains. With her I enjoy walking art galleries, and listening to new music, and enjoying the arts... finding my inner poet again, finding my muse, and finding the Ovate that I had once been, and which I know still lives inside.
It's but a small step from there to find and touch, and then embrace 'the whole' me... so why is it one that I haven't yet taken?
The same stream of life
that runs through the world
runs through my veins.
-Rabindranath Tagore
