At daybreak , the rising sun stretches her arms.
At daybreak, the goddess rises to her feet.
She rises, driving out darkness from the land.
She rises, bringing dayligt and birdsong to the land.
Beneath her, we move about, enjoying her warmth.
Above us, she moves about, walking westward.
She shines bright on the blooming collibah tree,
with its sprawling roots, with its spreading branches.

--Dulngulg song cycle, Australian Mudbara people

True joy exists in learning to delight in the dance of life, not clinging to a certain day's beauties or even to its pains.

Had one of those 'wavy' days today - you know the kind, where one minute something good is happening, and the next a ton of bricks fall on your head burst the bubble... and feeling crampy and sore didn't help the mood any, yet, somehow I managed to remember that this days frustrations too would end, and I'd be coming home to my Tibettan singing bowl amid the ocean, my meditation, a nice hot shower and an evening of taking it easy.

Did it make the prospect of an evaluation during last period any easier to handle - no not really, but these things are part of the teaching profession no matter where you go, and they don't last forever. The feedback you get can be used to help you improve your practise (or just better fit in with the school), and maybe even to identify areas where you might need help or PD. And you can always use the observations to wow the evaluator and improve your reference even more. I haven't had my full feedback yet, but the immediate feedback was a big (verbal) thumbs up. I can wait for the finer points until tomorrow.

Also in my early morning (email inbox) was a message from the After School Activities (ASA) coordinator asking me to take over one of the Sunday ASAs. Damn it, roped in, I thought, then read the next two words - reading club! Awesome! A chance to sit and read for an hour after school with 5 children. Kindle here I come!

And so it went on... things happening that might have been cause for a groan, and whether or not it was attitude or just someone looking out for me, the groans turned out to be not so bad after all. Now if only I felt a little bit more up to anything more than lying on the couch by the heater, (I don't have a hot water bottle - I need one). I also wish the prospect of cooking and eating something was a little more attractive too.
