From The Book of Awakening: Having the Life You Want by Being Present to the Life You Have.

We still might feed the dark thing in us that grows away from the light until against all sense we mysteriously flower in the other direction.

Quietly, each spring, things in the plant world start growing slowly toward the light, while their roots finger their way underground.

As above, so below... as within, so without... as is hidden, so is revealed.

They seem like opposites, but actually are the essense of mystical or if you'd rather, spiritual balance. In the simplest sense, each reflects is the notion that all that we do on a physical level reflects on the spiritual or ethereal realities. Thou art god, the notion that we are not separate from our own divinity, and neither is divinity separate from the physical on and in which we live. It can be a lot more complicated than that, but in essense - it's the kind of circle you can easily get stuck in, but not a visious one. This cycle is one of beauty.

I walked through a swarm of bees today. No, don't look at me like that, it's true. Scared the life out of me at first, and I was trying to dodge this way and that, to make sure that none of the little critters actually touched me... but then all of a sudden I stopped doing that. It was ridiculous to even try. It was very windy, the bees were all fighting to stay in the air, and to reach the lavender that was cascading down the wall past which I was walking at the time, and to the wall itself. I suspect it was a newly established colony in that wall. But I stopped dodging, actually slowed down - accepted they were there and just... walked, and you know what? Not one of them so much as touched me. It was almost as if I was walking in the spaces between the bees.

Yes, it was profoundly uncomfortable for me... with my fear of bees, and my allergy to their stings, but I put my trust in that walking between the spaces, and the realisation that, hey... it was warm enough, and spring enough for the bees to be out there making their nests. Spring - growth - renewal... return.

It made walking through them again on the way back a whole lot easier.
