So... I don't know wrote this in here, but a while ago now, one night, I suddenly heard a terrible screeching sound, followed by a crunch and breaking glass. My first thought was, "Ah, shit, there goes my car." See, people are quite often hitting my car as it's parked outside my house because of the crappy way the visitors to the neighbourhood park. So I went down the stairs to investigate rather quickly, because the other thing about people that hit my car when it's parked is that they never stop.
Anyway, it wasn't my car that had been hit at all, but someone else that had driven right into the lampost, completely taking it out - and putting out /all/ the lights down the street. The driver was drunk, and after initially running away and claiming he wasn't there, finally pleaded guilty.
Meanwhile we're left with the highways people coming to put in a new light post, and at this point I should tell you that /all/ the light posts down our street are orange, right? So what do they do? They put in a very bright /white/ light - but at least we had a light, otherwise this end of the street is very dark indeed.
Well... during the last couple of days I've noticed it's been dark outside - darker than usual. Today I realised why. The new light post is not working. Now, both mum and I speculate that this is because the neighbours have complained that it's too bright, right outside their house, but... we need a light there. Why can't highways come and change it for an orange one to match the rest of the street?
