I won't horrify people with the details of my day - well my afternoon mostly. The morning was almost a delight actually, and I obviously caused a lasting impression on one little girl who, at the end of the day came to me almost in tears because she had become separated from her mother who had then subsequently left without her. The little girl, aged 5, did the right thing and came to find a teacher - and I was very touched that she chose me to come to - and said that she had lost her mummy. That mummy had been there a moment ago but now she wasn't. The girl had looked for her mummy and couldn't find her... then she looked up at me with those big brown eyes swimming with tears, and in a wobbly voice said, "I used to like her, but she went without me," and started to cry. Of course I comforted her and told her I was sure that as soon as mummy realised she wasn't with her she'd come back to school to find her, and if not we could go to the office together and telephone her. She seemed okay with that, and stayed with me until I could go with her to the office. The story does have a happy ending - as we got to the office mum was already there. She had indeed realised that one of her kids was missing and had come back to school to find her.
Oh, and this morning I taught a little girl called A'ini. This will mean nothing to many people, but will probably make some people chuckle.
