Crossing Lines: Act 3 - review
Awesome how fast this new chapter is out! Though it means you didn’t get to teach much, right? *sigh*
Divided them up per category again, much easier:
Atlantis:
First of all, I was very happy that Varnerin in the beginning of the chapter reminded me once again about all the pain Michael (for Teyla) will someday give him, hopefully. *sits on knees and begs* He has it coming. I really hope I’ll be reading that scene with a big smile on my face. I should go practice in front of a mirror.
It’s a true pity that Keller did not have a feeding slit in her hand when she grabbed onto him. It would save some people the trouble later on, as seen above. If I were to say that I loved Keller tearing him open a bit, and that there’s some part in me hoping that it’ll leave some nasty scars on his already scarred face, that wouldn’t be too nice, right? Then let’s just pretend I didn’t say anything.
Yeah, I really dislike the guy that much. But that’s what he’s there for, or not there for: to be liked.
Sheppard & co:
Not much to say, really. Same as before: Sheppard needs a suspension or something. A psychologist would be neat, too, but oopsy… that’s Varnerin at the moment. The thing is, who’d take over the military part of Atlantis? Varnerin’s puppet, what was his name again?
I do think McKay is about ready to call Sheppard out on his behaviour. I mean, I hope so.
Caldwell attacking Michael when his shields were so down already, hmm, stupid move? We’ll see next time. I’m baffled sometimes how he listens to Sheppard, especially with the ‘gotta go rescue Teyla’ bit. But then again, Caldwell has no idea that Sheppard saw a Teyla who was NOT begging to be rescued. Maybe Michael should have punched him in the head once, and good, so he’d see it. Or he’d see it if Teyla did it.
Michael/Teyla:
It’s good that the ‘Teyla shouting at him’ part wasn’t repeated in this Act. She was not acting like she was acting last time, I mean, arguing with him again. He doesn’t deserve her constant defiance, nor can it be good for them (their reputation) to argue in front of his hybrids.
I was happy she once again showed concern for him, or fear (I hope he finally understood it was for him) and that they finally managed to get out the mess they found themselves in at the facility. Teyla must be happy to see her son again, to be ‘home’, because as much as she wants to act up at times against Michael, this is her home, the only place where she’ll be accepted for what she is, and for the feelings she has. At least Michael managed to get the message across to Sheppard that he’d break Teyla’s heart, should he kill him. And the same goes in reverse.
I can’t understand, in part, why Sheppard’s so bound to bring her home again, after witnessing what’s happened to Teyla in Atlantis, already. She’s exactly where she needs to be, where it’s safe for her right now, in the company of the only person who can keep her safe (from that Wraith Queen). A pity they perhaps didn’t get more time to get that to sink in, but I’m sure they’ll get there, yet.
Wraith:
That poor, smart-ish Wraith. He had the foresight to keep his eyes on what was going on around that planet, but summoned the fleet (Queen?) before he even had Michael. Or they’ll arrive after he’s left. What’ll happen to him, now? Someone’s not going to be happy. Let’s hope the Daedalus is out of the way by then.
Thanks again for the super-long chapter.
Spikey
Re: Crossing Lines: Act 3 - review
Varnering has a lot coming to him, and soon. You should definitely go practise your smug face. Keller will need a lot more than a feeding hand, but yeah, you're not alone in disliking him, not alone at all.
Sheppard and Co
Are you talking about Major Hollick taking over Military Command of Atlantis? Sheppard just needs a good slap upside the head. Perhaps Caldwell will do it. But as you say, Caldwell doesn't know that Teyla wasn't begging to be rescued, doesn't know that she's with Michael in more ways than one.
Michael/Teyla
She knows it's not good to argue with Mikey in front of the help, and so far she's been good about that, for the most part at least.
She is actually very concerned for/about him, but also conflicted about her own feelings.
Sheppard is determined to bring Teyla home because he doesn't believe that she really wants to be there. He's convinced that Michael has messed with her mind and made her believe it's what she wants. He will not be disuaded of that easily.
Wraith
Oh, they're in trouble now - and let's leave it at that!
