If you're on the edge of your seat waiting for the next installment then I've done my job. I'm still always suprised at how many people each week visit the website to see how things are coming along. Surprised and honoured. When I sarted this series, I didn't know quite the life it would take on. I'm glad it did.
Michael was so badly done by in the show by writers who openly admitted they'd grown bored of writing for him. Bored of writing for him? I can't imagine how that could happen to anyone. Then again, I'm very fond of him myself, so those questions and that angle is very easy for me to come from to address him.
Todd, ah Todd. You're right he is complicated and complex. Noble, cunning, devious and manipulative. Sounds like all the good kings and queens of old, does it not?
The next installment is in the works. Hopefully I'll get there soon, and /yes/ when the tension snaps, hell will seem like a calm Caribbean beach compared to the Pegasus Galaxy.
Apostasy: Act 4

"It is doubtful that the splice held. It does not seem to have in any of the others."
Is this a special kind of splice, or just more of the old? I haven't a clear mental picture what this splice could be about, that's why I'm asking.
"Do not think that just because of what we have shared, you can do as you please,"
It may sound a bit odd, but I'm a bit happy that Teyla is the one to first use that sentence? I mean, she could have done something to displease him very much and be the one on the end of the sentence? Not so good…
How does it feel, Colonel Sheppard…?
I really must start counting how many times you're going to use that sentence. ^^
"He needs his mother."
"His mother is here," she answered, and walked toward Michael, reaching up to stroke Nethaiye's hair softly.
-but will she stay?-
I just wanted to quote this and say that I liked that little bit, him asking mentally if she was going to stay. Not that he wanted an answer then and there, but more a 'what will the future bring' kind of thing. Sweet. :-)
And I also like that she's starting to grow feelings for him, even if she's not ready yet to define them. Perhaps Michael knows exactly what it is, though. Or I hope he feels she's starting to feel things. It'll be difficult for her to voice it, and he needs some kind of affirmation from her concerning the future. Even if she can't give him yet what he wants, acceptance of her role, I hope he can feel the beginning is there, and can get comfort from that notion.
"And where is my commander?" the Queen demanded, her focus shifted in an instant, her game with the other woman forgotten.
"Communing with the growing Hive consciousness… that he may better serve the Hive,"
HAH! Biggest joke ever. Idiot thinks he's going to be around for much longer…
"Of course not," she told him, knowing that she meant the words she said. "It was the right thing to do."
He nodded, a gesture of acceptance, rather than agreement,…
The second line she says has to be an odd one for him. 'The right thing to do'. Not what he wanted to hear, I mean. He's not 'a good guy', but he blows up stuff. There is no 'right thing' for him, not like she thinks of it. But if it helps her accept him, he'll take it. He'll have to.
"We gotta get to Michael's people before he does," he murmured and for once was relieved when McKay didn't ask why.
Gah. He should have called for another Jumper so they could bombard the settlement with drones, one Jumper focussing on the Hive, the other on shooting the Queen. If the Hive Commander was still 'communing with the growing Hive consciousness so he could serve the Hive better', he would have been blown up with it, and that got rid of that one. ^^
She freed her hand from his light grasp and laid it, instead, in the middle of his chest.
"I will remain here with you," she said.
Aaaaahhhhh. *sniff*
Sorry. Cute moment.
Malcolm saw some of the possible future in Sheppard's mind, then?
Hmm, since Michael is heading to a cloning facility (something that he indeed needs to do if he's ever going to expand his army), does that mean the minerals he was collecting were for a next Hive? He should make a couple Hives and cruisers, really… Probably easier said than done, but he needs them to further his campaign.
As for the last scene of Act 5… Can I put the emphasis on the part where Michael looks /tired/, please? If I read things correctly, they'd been there for 48 hours already? Poor boy probably didn't sleep yet and she took up the nice quarters anyway. Instead of offering him to lay beside her, not that he would, it seems that now she needs that service that only one individual on his Hive is allowed to deliver to her. When he's dead tired. Not cool, man. Not cool. Perhaps he'll reconsider that only he can do that! Lol.

That's really it. We'll see what the rest brings once we hit the next instalment. Part 3, here we come? How's the writing going?
See ya later.

Re: Apostasy: Act 4
You answered this just as I was starting to get worried about you, and since then I've been absolutely /swamped/ with stuff that I haven't been able to get back to you either (though I am writing Crossing Lines). But finally I'm having a catching up weekend, and here I am. On to the review. *hugs*

Splice = genetic splice, which I guess is Michael up to his old tricks again.
Yeah, it was deliberate that Teyla should say that, partly because she's feeling a sense of 'oh my god, I did /that/.' and partly to demonstrate her continued strength/defiance against his manipulative wishes. LOL (though you'll recall /she/ started it as far as the um... 'sharing' was concerned)
So... what's the count. how does it feel...
That quote came to me first and was the basis of the while scene.
Teyla's coming realisation, even when she admits in CL that she 'needs him' (physically that is), will be long and slow in being defined/admitted to, though not much longer in coming, if that makes any sense.
Michael feels as she feels - he knows what she's feeling.
Another story, then we can begin to watch for the disposal of the Hive Commander.
She recognises that sometimes even the not so good do the one thing that has to be done, so.. it was the right thing to do.
Let's just say that Sheppard doesn't always make the right choices, and have the right answers. *evil grin*
Yes, it was a cute moment for them, wasn't it... with many repercussions to come.
Yeah, Malcolm saw many things, and that's all I'll say for right now.
At this stage, all I will say of Michael's plans is... he's preparing for war. *grin*
He looks tired... he /is/ tired...and yeah, well... lets just say that CL will start with an interesting scene. (if I ever get it written to my satisfaction it'll be with you soon). *hugs again*
Re: Apostasy: Act 4
Did you manage to arrive back to the UK al right, then? I take it you were grounded due to the ash cloud?
