Enmity Act 4

Title: Enmity
Rating: R (mature readers)
Spoilers:Spoilers for S1-4, (specifically Michael (but who hasn't seen that by now?) and some episodes from the beginning of the official season 5
Summary: As the team continues to battle a powerful Wraith faction, Teyla wakes in the infirmary on Atlantis. She has no memory of what Michael has done to her; knows only one thing... he has her son. Upset by repeated attempts at debriefing, because she cannot - or will not, as certain expedition members insist - tell them what happened, what will she do when Woolsey pushes her too hard... too far?
Disclaimer:MGM own Stargate: Atlantis. This story is for entertainment purposes only and no revenue is being made from copyright material. No infrigement intended.
Acts 1 through 4 now available.
Author's Note: Only thing I really want to note here, for now at least, is that I thought long and hard about it, and finally made the decision to change the name of Teyla's son. This was done in order to create a little distance from the TV Season 5. Oh, and I should probably also give warning of a character death in this story.
Previous Episodes:
Harm's Way (1) and Chain of Command (2) can be accessed here.

This great, great, great.

Date: 2008-11-12 03:11 am (UTC)I am not good at reviews, as I said, but oh, yes, I know--I could tell. I bet one of the scenes you got a kick out of--among many others--was the one between Vega and Todd. That was priceless. The scenes with the Wraith Queen were powerful. And, I appreciated the level of maturity in the scenes between Michael and Shep. By maturity I mean--it was written for adults, with depth and layers of emotion, not like some manga with 'zap' "boom" etc.
Great stuff! (now that was literate, wasn't it. "Stuff".)

Enmity Act 4: Review - Part 1
Date: 2008-11-12 05:49 pm (UTC)"I understand how you feel, Teyla," he answered, "truly, I do."
*Snort*
"Listen to yourself, Teyla," he said softly, "Do you know how paranoid you sound?"
Teyla is the paranoid one? Has Woolsey listened to himself yet? He's the paranoid one, if he thinks danger lies behind every corner on Atlantis, and anyone having been missed for even a few hours/days are considered a liability. (That seems to be next in his policy.)
… and when she thinks you are ready, we can all meet again to consider how we might go forward from there."
'move forward' = back at getting her head examined on Earth? Right.
And 'we' are going forward? Funny, like it'll be a team thing. As soon as she surrenders herself, I can see Woolsey ordering Keller to sedate her completely, strap her to a bed, give her anti-psychotics and the whole 'special' treatment. Pfft. Butthole.
**
"Please, Major Lorne, this is not your fight," she told him.
"You're wrong."
So, was that Michael coming through? With Evan being so close to a full Hybrid, Michael must feel him. And didn't he already say something along those lines, about being able to hear Michael? (I’m quoting it a bit later on.)
Did Michael want Lorne to take Teyla and Woolsey off-world? Although it's not safe for Teyla to be so near a battlefield, as he wants to keep her safe, on Atlantis. Or was it really Major Lorne seeking Michael? It, of course, provides a nice reason for her to go elsewhere after being on that planet, as we’ll see later on. She’d be safer out there on her own, than stay where she was. :(
The last she heard from Atlantis was the percussive ring of two shots fired, and the dull sound of a body hitting the floor.
Who did they get? *Hopes for Hollick*
Edit: I already know the answer now. Ah well, still leaving it in.
**
To his credit, when he almost walked into the business end of the blaster aimed at his head, he had the good sense to raise his own weapon as well.
I just wanted to say I love that line!
You do not deserve to have her at your side!
And, of course, Michael does! *squeeee*
**
So, Todd takes on the Queen. Perhaps that was more 'satisfying' to her as him just standing still and her stepping around him… Lol. She might like it rough. *g*
*Reads the ‘let’s clean Todd up’ scene*
OMG… She touched his chin, his goatee… *thunk*
And he doesn’t wanna be touched that much, either! *g* Mikey 2. Poor boys, with so few girls around.
"All of a sudden, you are… concerned for my well-being?"
Lol, she's Stockholming on him already, or he might think she is? *g*
Now, if you were to put me there, no chance in that dark place it's Stockholm. Lol!
Oh, and he called her ‘dear’, already.
"Never forget," he growled as he held her against the work bench, barely a breath away from her, "where you are, and who you are with."
Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. Told you they did! Get the girls, I mean…
And why do I picture a small, white transparent outfit on her? *g* Nice preview for the boys…
The first time I read the scene, I misunderstood a small part. I thought the Queen had sent Alicia with him so he could feed off of her, in order to heal his wounds, and the second insinuation was for play. I thought Todd told her as much, but I misread the ‘to heel’ thing, instead I thought it was ‘to heal’. Lol. Also nice, of course. Even better, immediately moving to *that* insinuation.
Also, was that called for? Is it a way for him to put some wall between them again? To remove temptation a bit?
--
I had to break it up in the middle of my Todd/Vega rant. How annoying. :P

Re: Enmity Act 4: Review - Part 1
Date: 2008-11-13 04:34 pm (UTC)I love that you snort at Woolsey... all I can say is - some people /never/ learn. He does indeed seem paranoid... and I can't see it getting better any time soon. Getting Teyla's head examined, yeah, but not necessarily on Earth. *evil grin*
And 'we' are going forward? Funny, like it'll be a team thing. As soon as she surrenders herself, I can see Woolsey ordering Keller to sedate her completely, strap her to a bed, give her anti-psychotics and the whole 'special' treatment. Pfft. Butthole.
Now you're getting close...
**
Lorne - not necessarily Michael himself coming through, but certainly his influence... his 'standing orders' in respect of Teyla. Or at least Lorne's interpretation of them. (oops, did I just give too much away).
Hollick indeed...
**
This particular Queen prefers a little 'fire' in her males - yes. At some time soon I'm going to have to show that, I think...
Yep - Vega touched his chin. You like that?
See... the way I see it, (I think I've said this somewhere before), the Wraith don't /do/ the whole touching thing very much, and when they do, it's significant.
I think you could be right, re Vega Stockholming, if I understand correctly what you mean. And yes, he called her 'dear,' though I think there was a degree of sarcasm in there.
LOL @ the Squea - you did indeed tell me they did get the girls - of course whether they use them or not... that's a different matter.
Yeah, it was a case of "Here you are, Todd my boy, "play" with this.." from the Queen to Todd. LOL - and yes, perhaps Todd is trying to... distance Vega from himself, but... well, you'll see.
Re: Enmity Act 4: Review - Part 1
Date: 2008-11-13 08:18 pm (UTC)See?
Yeah, he'd actually pull such a trick. Don't know if Keller would have followed those orders, but he'd just get Hollick and his men to point a gun at her, or something.
**
Well, 'protect the Queen at all costs' would have to be one of those orders, or close enough...
*Hopes that Lorne got Hollick good*
**
'Some time soon' falling together with Todd urgently needing to feed?
Oh yes, me likes his lil goatee... Can you imagine playing with it? Twisting it around your index finger... *Gutter*
You might have mentioned that in my early mails with you, concerning M/T, yes.
Party pooper. ^^
Well, on getting them... Todd might be trying to keep his leg stiff. - Wait... Er, yeah. :-)
But? There's a 'but'? Oh, yippie! I love Todd/Vega buts!
Now, I wonder if a Wraith male did use one of the females, would they feed on them afterwards? After all, can't have her spread around the word of him having a lil green tush in the Queen's handmaiden chambers, right?
What? We're Wraith fans. There's *nothing* we haven't discussed yet. And we definitely haven't forgotten *that*.
Oh, should I make you aware that Peter DeLuise said they have *two*? Stunners, that is. If you get it. ;-)

Re: Enmity Act 4: Review - Part 1
Date: 2008-11-14 06:01 pm (UTC)Yeah, with Hollick at his side, he has a pretty good bully boy - but even better yet is on the way - worse of course if you happen to be Teyla...
Actually no, I can't imagine playing with Todd's goatee... nope. LOL @ Todd's stiff leg comment - question is, which one?
There's always a but. :)
See... if I answer that question, about my thoughts on what happened is the males do use the females, I might accidentally slip up and give something away that I don't want to. Suffice to say I do have some ideas about that kind of thing.
I'm aware that it's been said they have two 'stunners', yes... Gotta be careful of those Wraith stunners. I've heard they're mighty powerful. LOL
Re: Enmity Act 4: Review - Part 1
Date: 2008-11-15 04:57 pm (UTC)That had better be the possible whump that's in the summary for the next ep... :D
No? Lol! Right. If I were to say 'all 4', it would be disgusting, right? :P
I should perhaps have said I like Michael and Todd's butts... :D
You mean like the Wraith use their sharp teeth and bit the person's tongue out? So they won't kiss and tell?
Powerful? LOL. Or addictive? *g*
Teyla and Vega might be in for some fun. Or at least one of those two...

Enmity Act 4: Review - Part 2
Date: 2008-11-12 05:51 pm (UTC)he slowly raised his eyes to gaze on her, where she sat, being ministered to by the two scantly clad human females, who were her body servants
And so perhaps Miss Vega was handed over to him, to be a body slave? Woohoow! Or maybe not just yet.
*Since she came across it, will also put a line from Enmity Act 1 in it*
"The human females in her service are well treated… perhaps even given some small measure of respect."
For the short while they live? She’s better off with being a body servant to Todd. *g*
Another one:
"What, I get to wipe her ass, and your fellow creepies out there leave me the hell alone?"
He chuckled again, "Something like that," he said.
Oh, why was he chuckling, now? *g*
But back to this Act:
Is Todd going to continue being the ‘perfect gentleman’, let’s call it?
And a good thing she didn’t say that she perhaps thought, or was hoping, that they’d be neutered, lol!
Ouch. Sorry, Todd. That was a bad thought, I know. But wow, imagine her having said that aloud… Bwahahaha!
~Tell her I will be sure that the Renegade is brought to her ~
Uh oh… Especially since I read that other thing for the next story.
A thing about Enmity Act 1 that I haven’t asked:
"Todd?"
He spun around to face her so quickly, and startled her so badly that she fell back against the bench that passed for her bed as he started back toward her.
"Do not call me by that name here," he said urgently, glancing at the door as though it would open any moment. "Colonel Sheppard sent you?"
Do you have a special theory about Todd indeed knowing his name (in your story, and on the real show)? Or did he just immediately assume that the name spoken must have been ‘his’, since the Lanteans like to name things?
**
Once again he found himself breathless in admiration of the Wraith-Human hybrid's strength and speed,…
Maybe this is the slash that person I told you about was seeking… Lol.
**
Poor Major Lorne, and what an ass, that Woolsey, for making Teyla that nervous when she tried to administer the contents of the vial to him.
Now that we’re back with Major Lorne again, and that I’ve found something in Enmity Act 1 again:
"It's in my head!" Lorne screamed, "Make it stop!"
’It’ being Mikey? I think I’ve rambled on a bit there, but in the end no real answer was given?
**
"How does it feel, Colonel Sheppard, to know that it's me she calls for in the dead of night; me she reaches for when she's in need, and this time—"
"I know what you're doing," Sheppard snarled, tightening his grip on his weapon, "and it's not going to work!"
As you’re snarling, and you’re still not shooting him, it *is* in fact working. The silly boys can’t play nicely together. Poor John, that bad Mikey poking him exactly where it hurts. :P
*Hands Michael a pitchfork*
What?
*blushes*
**
Teyla dialled the address where she wanted to go immediately from that planet? She should know better, they can find it like that!

The rambling happened back in Enmity Act 1, all the theories concerning Lorne... Should that not have been clear.

Re: Enmity Act 4: Review - Part 2
Date: 2008-11-13 04:41 pm (UTC)Todd was chuckling because he can appreciate the humour in the statement... at least in as far as it went.
Todd, is an interesting one - perfect gentleman, erm... no. Not exactly...
LOL Neutered Wraith. *chuckles* If Michael got his way, yeah.
Todd is turning out to be quite the complicated fellow actually... very interesting...
Do you have a special theory about Todd indeed knowing his name (in your story, and on the real show)? Or did he just immediately assume that the name spoken must have been ‘his’, since the Lanteans like to name things?
I'm sure, with the intelligence that Todd no doubt has people gathering for him about Atlantis, and the people there, that he's well aware that Sheppard calls him Todd. Not quite sure entirely how he /feels/ about it just yet... but... he knows.
**
LOL - NO! I am /not/ writing Sheppard/Michael slash. *ewwwww*
**
Yeah, Woolsey is an all round 'ass' and it's only going to get worse... (ooops, that was my out aloud voice)
**
Michael is very /good/ at poking people where it hurts, don't you think?
**
She does know better... but she also knows they know she knows... so... she did it slightly a different way. But then you know that by now. :)
Re: Enmity Act 4: Review - Part 2
Date: 2008-11-15 05:07 pm (UTC)Okay, maybe that should have been 'Wraithy-man'. Hmm, that looks odd.
Ouch, maybe Michael should be happy that he's still in one piece, or pieces, down there.
I wonder if Kenny told Todd they call him 'Todd', or if Kenny said they called him 'Kenny'... Could be an interesting convo to bring up.
**
Not even Todd/Shep? *g*
**
I didn't quite catch that... ;-)
I hope Hollick stays down.
**
Oh yes, Michael *is*, but then again, it would hurt *him* in exactly the same places, were it reversed.
**
Yes, when you put it like that... But McKay was still trying, I think? Silly boy. But she'll be on the move again soon, I think, since she already had that panic-y reaction after the dream in the next Act.

Re: Enmity Act 4: Review - Part 2
Date: 2008-11-17 01:21 am (UTC)Not that Todd is doing his dang hardest to pretend he fully listens to her...
It might even make Teyla happier, lol.
Like they also didn't hear in The Queen that Teyla was sending out so many Darts to kill Wraith...
No Todd/Shep? Awe!

Enmity Act 4: Review - Part 3
Date: 2008-11-12 05:52 pm (UTC)"You flatter yourself," Michael taunted, "if that is what you believe.”
Now who’s lying?
Ooooh, both of my boys hurt, and I don’t know who to run to first.
*Clones herself*
There. Should have done that a looong time ago! *g*
**
"How do you know I have not found a cure; a protection… after all – you did send the Queen that wonderful little human, as a gift." Todd countered, and with mounting anger, challenged, "Did you think I wouldn't realise?"
"You protect her?" The Renegade hissed in disbelief.
"I protect myself!" Todd snarled
So, Vega is infected with the Hoffan drug? And it’s a trap for the Queen? Should she feed on her, as she eventually does with all of her servants, she’ll drop dead?
Did Todd manage to make a protection with the research the Lanteans gave him? That did happen in The Kindred… The handing it over to him part, I mean. We didn’t find out what happened with it on the show, but maybe we will, in here?
The ‘her’ in ‘you protect her?’, is that supposed to be Vega, or the Queen?
Oh, and Todd things Vega is ‘wonderful’? Splendid! *g*
Both my boys are screamers. Woohoow!
*claps*
What?
*looks innocent and adjusts halo*
and then coming to one knee behind the kneeling Wraith he grasped his hair, and pulled back his head. Pushing his knife into the other's hand, he hissed dangerously against the Wraith's cheek, "Tell her… I defy her!"
You forgot the *kissy*… ^^
Poor Todd, he still can’t rid himself of that Queen. Ah well, you chose to serve her, now you’ll pay for it a while longer.
Maybe you can get some comfort from Vega… :P
**
Is Teyla’s Wraith DNA, the experiment Todd is doing with the hybrids, and the situation with the Haradians, and all the others from that region of the galaxy, all connected? I mean, Vega has to be strong for the Queen not to make her faint, and surely when they have telepathy through Wraith DNA, they can hear what the Queen wants? We never saw how Todd ‘prepared’ Vega for her task. So, was it that Queen that had a Commander experiment with humans in such a way to possibly make them stronger? Or did I ask that already? Hmm… Can’t remember at the moment. Just trying to put things together, or not, as I’m rereading parts.
Although, Michael just said he thought it interesting that one of Teyla’s kind was still alive. Hmm, he immediately knows her entire background, and the part where her ancestors’ ex-people turned on them.
Now, if Todd, under that Wraith Queen, was experimenting on humans… With the boys occasionally ‘cooperating’, or better, trying not to feed on each other, Michael would know that. But I still wonder, as I wonder the same for the show, whose DNA did they use? Urgh. We’ll never know that. Like they do… Pfft.
That’s it, really.
Spikey
Re: Enmity Act 4: Review - Part 3
Date: 2008-11-13 05:15 pm (UTC)**
Vega, Hoffan drug... Yes. That's what Michael meant when he said to her in Harm's Way that it was 'already done.' And yes... it was meant as a kick in the private parts for the Queen...
Todd's been working very hard with the research the Lantean's gave him - and now he has a subject on which to test things, thanks to Michael - though Michael couldn't have known that the Lanteans would give him Carson's research data... He still /is/ working hard with it... so yeah, we'll get to see some of that.
When Michael asked if Todd was protecting 'her' he did in fact mean the Queen.
Glad you like the Todd/Vega thing. It was a fun little moment.
What do you mean that your boys are screamers? *grin*
*cracks up at the thought of Michael giving Todd a goodbye kiss*
"Poor Todd" is in a very powerful position right now.
**
Is Teyla’s Wraith DNA, the experiment Todd is doing with the hybrids, and the situation with the Haradians, and all the others from that region of the galaxy, all connected?
Kind of - but right now I can't say too much otherwise it might give the game away, and I'd like that to be quite the shock/surprise.
Vega 'hears' the Queen because the Queen 'pushes' her needs/feelings etc onto her handmaidens... saves her talking to them after all.
The Queen may have been indirectly connected with the reason the experiments were conducted on the humans... yeah, kinda.
whose DNA did they use?
That's a very good question *evil grin*
Re: Enmity Act 4: Review - Part 3
Date: 2008-11-15 05:24 pm (UTC)**
And with a 'test subject', you mean Vega being the one they'll try to feed on, should it have been completed, the 'protection'? I wonder if Todd'll be the one to try it, like the technician from Outsiders trying the same thing, and having been overconfident.
Yes, but "poor Todd" still has to look out for himself. Poor boy. :P

*Hopes she doesn't forget half of the game by the time we know*

Man, I need more room for icons.
If I want Sasusc's Todd one with the peach-like thing, or whatever it is, then I have to get rid of the Penny!Todd one from BAMSR, where he wanted to threaten to feed on Rodney, and if I want a Todd/Teyla one, then I'd have to get rid of my default one without the 'heart & Spikey' on it... After that, I can't get rid of any anymore.

Date: 2008-11-16 11:52 pm (UTC)I just finished reading it all. I was soooo disapointed that there wasn't more to read yet. I need another fix. Bad. **am addicted to this series** What shall I read tonight and tomorrow? I have the day off and yet now nothing to read . . . Guess I should start writing again since I'll have some time while I wait for the next story.
I love that Michael had let Teyla go back to Atlantis to keep her safe and then was so angry when she's not. I couldn't understand why he let her go in the beginning, but then the story progress and little by little the truth and reasonings come out. Oh, Michael made a great choice to send her back . . . now Teyla doesn't trust Atlantis and she's becoming more and more sympathic to Michael.
How I love the layers upon layers upon layers of stuff written. This is really much better then the TV series.
Lorne? I love that he's be coming a hybrid. I don't know why, but I do. I hate that the writers couldn't do something like this because then they can't push that stupid reset button. And if they did, they would probably work it similar to Lt. Ford and eventually kill him off to end the arc and let it find a new reset starting point. **sighs**
And do you know what kind of fics I want to read now thanks to you? Todd/Vega fics. **snorts** They are great together. I can't wait to read more about them . . . even if it's not romantically (I'll just put on my rosy shipper glasses and think it is! :P).
And the ending? Gah! I want to know! How could you end it like that? Evil.

Date: 2008-11-17 12:16 am (UTC)Well, I'm glad you just finished reading, because I just uploaded the first act of Mantle - which is the continuation of Enmity.
It was a big decision to treat Teyla they way she's treated on Atlantis, but as you say, it does facilitate certain... choices.
The layers come because, as the characters develop, and reveal more and more to me... things start to get more and more complicated. :) But that's the way I like it.
Ah, the good Major-Lorne Hybrid - we haven't seen the last of him yet... even if he /is/ back on Atlantis now.
LOL - I have created a monster. You and Spikey both seem to enjoy the Todd/Vega moments... I think you will like Mantle Act 2 in that case.
Yes, I am evil... it will be a while before you'll see that one completely resolved/revealed. But more will come in Mantle.

Re: LOVE IT
Date: 2008-12-02 05:00 pm (UTC)I enjoy the character development, and trying to keep the characters true to themselves with some of the things that are 'revealed' to me by the Muse. The Elder Queen has been quite a challenge, but also fun to play with. The most challenging part of her character is her fickle nature, and her explosive temper.
We'll get to see a lot more of her in the episodes to come - sometimes almost literally. LOL
