From The Book of Awakening: Having the Life You Want by Being Present to the Life You Have.

Whether drifting through life on a boat or
climbing toward old age leading a horse, each
day is a journey and the journey itself is home.

...the work of the inner pilgrom is to keep eternity in our heart and mind's eye when dropped in the belly of our days.

Today is a day where my inner pilgrim is being nourished. In spite of a somewhat uncomfortable night - where first I was cold, until I got up and put another blanket on the bed, and then a little uncomfortable because the cat insisted on sleeping on my legs, making them all twisted up, I woke up feeling quite well rested. That helped to lift the general feeling of malaise that's been lingering (as I said) for a little while. It was a beautiful, if chilly morning (probably because the night had been a clear one?), and the sun was already putting in an appearence nice and early in the day. Didn't get up until around 9 though... and then we decided that today was hot-dog day!

Before we could do that though we had to do a few errands... didn't take but a couple of hours, and then we sat and watched Mr Belvedere while we ate lunch. Mir is introducing me to all these cool old shows, and I love 'em. Watching them is a kind of pilgrimage in itself - one in which I get to know the woman I love just a little more, through watching her childhood shows. So far they're hillarious, but in a quiet kind of way.

Right now, we're outside in the beautiful weather burning some sticks and fallen pieces of tree in our firepot, while reading and of course making our entries. Later this evening, when the fire dies down a bit, we'll be cooking our hotdogs - something we've both been looking forward to for a while now, but which has been delayed by rain.

It's such a beautiful, peaceful and relaxing day definitely one of the crests of the waves, one that is empowering, forthe soul, one that can recharge the batteries, as one might say. And as I sit here typing, a woodpecker has just flown across the yard, making it's own little comment on our log breaking abilities.

Nature in abundance surrounds us (some of it too much, even in spite of the Mosquito lamp to keep the bugs at bay), a little while ago we put aside a log that had a coocoon attached so that the butterfly could come out before the log was burned... the squirrels are playing the birds are calling... it's all wonderful.

Might go in and get the notebook in a little bit, when it's my turn to hand over the computer for a while.
